Deck Tours of Kalmar Nyckel: limited to special events (see Sailing Schedule). Currently not offered due to COVID restrictions (as of May 2021). Where is Kalmar Nyckel, our Tall Ship? Kalmar Nyckel sails from May through October each year, starting at her home berth at the Tatiana & Gerret Copeland Maritime Center on the Christina River in downtown Wilmington, DE and also in nearby Historic New Castle, DE. In a typical year, her captains, mates, and volunteer crew sail throughout the Atlantic seaboard from Virgina to New England, including the Chesapeake Bay and Hudson River. Our ship is not wheel chair accessible. We would, however, be happy to discuss your needs. Please call us before you book your tickets to see if we can accommodate your needs at 302-429-7447 (weekdays from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm). Free admission. Opens Saturday, May 29, 2021 and Closes at 4:00pm on Labor Day, September 6, 2021. The park is closed Independence Day, July 4th. Self-guided tours and tours with interpreters are available during park hours. Visitors to the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard and Fort Christina Park can enjoy free parking in our lot directly across from the Shipyard.
